Honor & Remember Memorial Forest

A nonprofit organization

A countywide Honor and Remember Nebraska Chapter project paying tribute to approximately 150 Adams County fallen military and first responder heroes.

Create a living memorial that gives lasting comfort and support to the fallen hero's family. So each Nebraska fallen military and first responder hero will have a tree in their name in or near the county where he or she grew up. The state-wide Nebraska Memorial Forest will be the sanctuary that deepens and enriches the symbiotic relationship between people, trees, and the land in powerful and verifiable ways: Trees are beautiful, strong, supple, and enormously critical for a healthy environment. Trees feed nutrients to the soil, 'eat' greenhouse gases, boost our physical and mental well-being, clean the air, hold and filter water, reduce wind damage, provide shelter for wildlife, and more. Each tree will serve as a steadfast sentinel watching over and protecting the land just as each fallen hero served as a sentinel protecting and defending our country and Nebraska communities. The thousands visiting the forest will grow to be more grateful for those who sacrificed their tomorrows for their fellow citizens. For some, this may become a transformational pilgrimage that inspires them to be better citizens; asking themselves, "What did I do today, and what will I do tomorrow in the names of the fallen?"
