Chorus of the Plains

A nonprofit organization

The Chorus of the Plains is now in its 60th year of bringing barbershop harmony to south-central Nebraska. The Chorus started as a men’s choir in 1964 before becoming a barbershop chorus in 1966. We enjoy performing barbershop music for churches, birthdays, Christmas sing-outs, sporting events, and social events.

The Chorus normally performs in two shows each year: a summer Cabaret show, and a fall show that features a guest quartet from the Midwest. We sing at Nebraskapella Day during the State Fair, and sing the national anthem at the Sertoma 8-man Football All-Star game each year.

The chorus works with the Kinman-Oldfield Trust to provide scholarships to Hastings College students who major in music. This year, $4,000 in scholarships will be available to students, to be selected by the Music Department.

The Chorus of the Plains rehearses every Monday from 7 PM—9 PM at the First Presbyterian Church at 7th and Burlington in Hastings. If you love to sing, we'd love for you to sing with us.
