Hastings Community Arts Council

The mission of the Hastings Community Arts Council is to nurture, promote, coordinate & celebrate arts, artists and culture in Hastings, Nebraska.

This year the Hastings Arts Council will be striking out into new exciting directions.  Funds generously donated this year will be used to fund our 3 new projects to enrich Hastings and bring more of the arts into our community: The Little Blue Film Festival, The Hastings Community Arts Council Scholarship to the Hastings College Open Space Summer program, and Pop Up Arts Galleries. 

On October 16th & 17th the Hastings Community Arts Council will be putting on the inaugural Little Blue Film Festival (LBFF).  The LBFF will bring independent films from all over North America to be show at The Lark Downtown. Donations from Give Hastings Day will ensure that the film festival will become an annual celebration of film and bring a unique experience to Hastings.  

The Hastings Community Arts Council Scholarship is a new program designed to give local students easier access to Hastings Colleges Open Space for the Visual Arts. Open Space is an immersive summer art program hosted by Hastings College and housed in the state-of-the-art Jackson Dinsdale Art Center. This program is specifically designed for rising seniors and juniors (current juniors and sophomores) who plan to study art at the college level.  A portion of the donations from Give Hastings Day, will be used to fund scholarships to local students to be able to attend this program at reduced or no cost. 

One of our core missions is to facilitate access to art in our community.  On May 15th-17th in the Schnase 1906 District, the HCAC will be hosting a Pop Up art Gallery for local artists with an opening reception on the 15th from 7-9 pm.  This Gallery will provide local artists with a space to showcase their artistic endeavors to our community, and for the community so see what great artists live right here in Central Nebraska.
