$4,000 Goal

Our mission is simple but meaningful: to preserve the rich history and heritage of Kenesaw and share it with future generations. Through our museum, we strive to educate our youth, connect our community, and celebrate the stories that make our town unique.

What began as a small effort quickly grew into something much bigger. We first purchased the old barbershop to house treasured artifacts generously donated by community members. Before long, we ran out of space—proof that our community deeply values its history.

With a vision for the future, we purchased the long-vacant bank building in Kenesaw, hoping to transform it into a larger, lasting home for our museum. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and supporters, that vision is becoming a reality. Over the years, we have cleared decades of debris, restored the building’s structure, installed new windows, heating and air, and added a mezzanine loft. In 2025, we continued our progress by upgrading lighting and electrical, painting, restoring original masonry, and repairing the building’s entrance.

Behind this work is a passionate board of 11 members, ranging in age from 18 to 82—proof that this mission spans generations.

Our impact reaches beyond the museum walls. We’ve revived cherished traditions like the annual downtown Christmas lighting, now entering its sixth year in 2026. We also participate in Wasenek Weekend, a beloved summer celebration that brings visitors to Kenesaw and supports local nonprofits, organizations, and school groups.

Most importantly, this project has sparked new energy in our town—encouraging others to preserve and restore Kenesaw’s historic buildings.

But there is still so much more to do.

With your support, we can continue restoring the bank building, expand our exhibits, and ensure that Kenesaw’s story is preserved for generations to come. Every donation—large or small—helps us protect our past and invest in our community’s future.

Testimonials

I love to be able to take my children to the museum and show them the history of the town they are growing up in. My children are the 4th generation to live in Kenesaw and attend Kenesaw Public School. I am so thankful the Kenesaw Heritage Museum is willing to take the time to preserve the history of our great village and school. - Sarah Kroos
